Ben-Shishu, Eliyahu (“Lalo”)
Son of David and Esther. He was born on August 27, 1948, in Tunis, Tunisia. In 1956, the family immigrated to Israel, where they settled there with other families in a settlement nucleus. When they came to Israel they went to the land in Ta’anach and established Moshav Nir Yaffe. Eliahu graduated from an elementary school in the moshav and during his free time he practiced soccer and basketball. He belonged to the moshav’s soccer team. Swimming was also a favorite of him. After completing elementary school, he studied for two years at the ORT school in Afula. During his studies he helped his parents with their weight and took care to develop it. He worked as a tractor operator at the tractor station before he enlisted in the IDF, which began in May 1966 – three months before he turned eighteen.
