Ben-Shimon, Benjamin (“Benny”)

Benjamin, son of Felitza and Rina Son of-Shimon, was born in Hod Hasharon on August 30, 1954. When Benny came to join the IDF at the end of July 1973, he volunteered for the naval commando unit, but moved to the parachute infantry brigade, where he was a combat soldier and was praised by his commanders and friends. In the War of Attrition, after which he was already standing on the northern front line, Benny was killed on the 5th of Iyar 5734 (27.4.1974). He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Hod Hasharon. Survived by his parents, four sisters and a brother. The family members commemorated him by bringing a scroll of Torah into the Nahalat Achim synagogue in Hod Hasharon.
