Alon was an enthusiastic activist, an apprentice and a counselor in the Scouts movement, and later a member of the Egoz group of graduates of the Scout movement from Jerusalem who worked as community workers in Ma’alot. In mid-September 1983, Alon was drafted into the army and volunteered for the Nahal Brigade. His friends told him that he was an avid lover of the Land of Israel and an ardent supporter of trips, trips and animals. Alon was a bird and spent many leisure hours watching migratory birds.
