Son of Sarah and Chaim, was born on 13.3.1950 in Givat Hayim-Ihud. Joseph was educated and finished elementary and high school in the kibbutz. Yosef was a good student, and took an active part in social and cultural events in his school and in the economy at large. For many years he played violin and was a member of the kibbutz youth orchestra. After he stopped playing, Joseph continued to listen to music, and he loved to sing for his pleasure and to delight his listeners. This love was realized in his participation in the choir of the economy. From his childhood, Joseph was attracted to books, for he found in them a magical world of imagination and reality, and read a lot of them. By nature, he was pleasant, with a good temperament, and thanks to these virtues, he was admired by all the members of the kibbutz. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1968, and volunteered to serve in the paratroop infantry brigade, and after completing his basic training course, Yosef was placed in one of the paratroopers’ battalions and fulfilled his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders. When he completed his regular army service, he was placed in a reserve unit of the Paratroopers and was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant, and from time to time he was called up for reserve duty and participated in the Yom Kippur War on the southern front. , And was trained as an electronics engineer, and after his studies returned to his kibbutz and joined the labor market, and later married his girlfriend Poli, and in 1975 their eldest son was born, and he devoted his spare time to spending time with his family. Together with his second son, Amnon, who was born in 1981. When the Peace for Galilee war broke out, Yosef was called to her He fell prey to his paratroopers, who fought in the area of ​​Beirut, and on the 17th of Sivan, 5763 (August 8, 1983), Joseph fell in combat in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee war. He left behind a wife and two sons, parents, two brothers and a sister, in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, the defense minister wrote: “Sergeant Yosef Son of-Or gave his life for his homeland.
