Ben Hagar and Ze’ev. He was born on 17.9.1975 in Kibbutz Sa’ad in the Negev, a twin brother to Avner. Yoav grew up and was educated at Kibbutz Sa’ad, where he also attended elementary school. At an early age, Yoav stood out for his intellectual skills. He participated in science-based youth groups of the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council, and was especially interested in computers and electronics. At the same time, he also liked the study of the holy and especially the Gemara. After elementary school, Yoav, like most of his peers, studied at the Yavneh high school. At the end of his high school studies, he studied for a year at a pre-military yeshiva in Beit Yatir. In his high school and in the preparatory program, Yoav was very knowledgeable about Torah and knowledge of the country, and always wanted to expand his knowledge and learn more and more. His friends called him “a walking encyclopedia” because Yoav knew almost every question in every field. When Yoav was in high school, he worked in the lab of the plastic factory in his kibbutz. In the course of his work he developed software and calculates the laboratory, thus contributing greatly to the efficiency of the work in the plant. He was highly appreciated by the staff and management of the plant. Yoav also volunteered to help organize summer camps for disabled children, which took place on the kibbutz, and his help in technical matters contributed greatly to the success of the camps. Even as a child, Yoav had become very close to older people. When he was three years old, he chose “Grandfather Yehuda,” then eighty years old, to be his friend. He had long conversations with Grandfather Yehuda and even helped him. This relationship lasted for several years, until “Saba Yehuda” passed away. Yoav also had great respect for his biological grandparents. He had devoted a great deal of time to them, and they greatly appreciated his attention to them. Yoav joined the IDF at the end of July 1994. He wanted to serve in an elite unit in the Artillery Corps because he thought that he would be able to contribute to the army, but the army thought differently and placed him in the Givati ​​Brigade. Yoav was sent to an officer’s course about a month before the end of the officers’ training course, on June 19, 1996, Yoav fell during his service. He was brought to rest at Kibbutz Sa’ad. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. Survived by his parents, five brothers and a sister – Ran, Gil, Erez, Dafna, Amos and Avner.
