Ben-Naim, Aliza

Aliza, the daughter of Georgette and Daniel Son of-Naim, was born in Bat Yam on August 30, 1968, after three sons. In the elementary school she belonged to the Bnei Akiva religious youth movement. Helping others was an important component of her personality. She volunteered for the Magen David Adom and helped the patients at the Wolfson Hospital, after which Aliza helped the underprivileged pupils whose parents could not pay for their tutoring, and when the first aliyah of Ethiopian immigrants arrived in Israel, Aliza helped them with first arrangements and acclimatization in Israel. Despite being from a religious home, Aliza decided to enlist in the IDF. Aliza was recruited to the IDF in January 1987. Her career was clear – enlisting in a corps where she could provide direct assistance to the injured and wounded soldier – and volunteered for the medical corps. A malignant disease gnawed at her and on 9 October 1987, Cpl. Aliza Son of-Naim died. She was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon.
