Ben-Naftali (Rosbach), Shlomo


Son of Lea and Naphtali, was born on January 1, 1942, in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and his parents, who were traditionally observant, educated him and his brother-in-law first in a socialist kindergarten that advocated an advanced pedagogical method. In 1934, when the fate of the Jews of Vienna, the result of the failure of the workers’ revolution, began to be resolved, his Zionist consciousness was completely revealed and he joined the “Hebrew Scouts.” His socialist views brought him to the Hashomer Hatzair movement in 1939. In 1939, He and his brother arrived in Israel with a group of immigrant youth who received training in Kibbutz Ein Hahoresh In the course of his service he was given the opportunity to explore the country and to recognize him and after a while he was appointed Regional Guide for Security Affairs and a Guide for Children and Youth, and in his moderation and courage he served as a model for his students and in 1942 he was accepted as a member of Ein Hahoresh. He was appointed as a lieutenant colonel in the Alexandroni Brigade, in a military unit in Emek Hefer, and took part in activities in Tira, Tulkarem and around Kfar Yona. Shlomo fell in the Battle of Kakun on the 29th of Iyar 5708 (7.6.1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Ein Hahoresh
