Ben-Menachem, Yitzhak (“Gulliver”)


Son of Yehezkel and Gita, one of the first settlers in Ramatayim, where he was born on the 29th of September 1929. He studied at the elementary school in the settlement and graduated from the high school in Tel Aviv. He participated in the War of Independence in various battles and was known as one of the IDF’s daring commanders, and went to the United States as a member of the IDF delegation. On his return he enrolled at the Law Faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and studied for three years. In January 1954 he joined the regular army and served as a captain. Intelligent and kind, with humor, a devoted and loyal friend for his job. He was the chairman of the officers’ club. He fell in combat on the shore of the Sea of ​​Galilee on December 12, 1955. That same day he was promoted to Major. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Ramatayim. A book called “Man and Warrior” was issued in his memory. In Uri Milstein’s book “Wars of the Paratroopers” his memory was raised.
