Ben-Israel, Eliyahu

Son of Giles and Yehia, was born in 1932 in Tiflis, the Caucasus region of Russia. In 1934 he came to Israel with his family and he was two years old. EIlyush, as he was affectionately named, took part in the battles around Tel Aviv (Holon, Abu Kabir, Beit Dajan, Tel Arish). In repelling the enemy’s attack on Zerifin,he was wounded, and refused to be treated by the paramedic. He fell on 4 Sivan, 11.6.1948. Eliyahu was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
