Ben-Hur, Zvi


Zvi (Zvika), son of Mina and Meir, was born on April 2, 1946. He studied at the David Yellin Elementary School and the “Shor” high school in his hometown Zvika was drafted into the IDF, In 1965 and served in an air control unit as an interception controller. During the Six-Day War he did an excellent job in the control base in this capacity. His commanders saw him as a disciplined soldier, quiet, efficient in his work, and especially a wonderful friend who helped his friends as best he could. During his service in the army he completed his studies in Electronics at an average grade of 10. After being discharged from regular service, he turned to the electronics world, which he had longed for since childhood. As usual, in the quiet and plentifulness of his initiative, he set up an electronics lab that flourished and expanded from day to day. In 1969, Zvika married his girlfriend Nira (Sapir), and eventually they had two sons – Gil and Ran. As a husband and pain he was devoted, warmhearted and extremely loving. During one of his reserve service years, Zvika underwent a combat paramedics course and was later assigned to a medical battalion. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Zvika went to the front in the framework of the Medical Battalion and fought in battles in Sinai and on the western side of the Suez Canal. On the 28th of Adar 5734 (February 28, 1974), he was killed on his way home, only twenty-eight years old, leaving a wife and two sons, parents, brother and sister.
