Ben-Hur, Rotem
Daughter of Dorit and David. Was born on March 31, 1973 in Be’er Sheva, the eldest daughter of her parents. Rotem attended her first year at the New State elementary school in Hod Hasharon. Following the relocation of the family to Kibbutz Nir-Am, she continued at the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Elementary School in the town of Sderot. She completed her elementary studies at Reut School in Hod Hasharon. She went on to junior high school at the “Rishonim” school. When Rotem was fifteen, the family moved to Eilat. Rotem joined the Alon School in Eilat and at the Makif Goldwater High School. Rotem was recruited to the IDF at the end of August 1991. She already knew how to cope with physical difficulties and physical limitations, and at the same time estimated that she would cope easily with stress and the ability to learn new things. As a clerk in the Maintenance Department, she received a summons for the officers’ course, and in the form of an opinion on the candidacy for the course, Rotem received a very high esteem for leadership, initiative, ability, and responsibility. And went home for the Sabbath On October 8, 1992, Rotem fell in the line of duty. A civilian bus on its way overturned close to the Arava Junction. Rotem was killed on the spot and brought to rest in the military cemetery in Eilat. She left behind her parents, a sister – Leahy, and a brother – a son.
