Ben-Hemo, David


Son of Salomon and Rachel. He was born in 1947 in Morocco and when he was six he immigrated with his family to Israel. He studied at the “Talmim” elementary school in Moshav Talmim and during this period was a member of the Bnei Akiva religious youth movement. He continued his studies at the agricultural school “Einot” and graduated from the vocational high school “Hodaya” in Tiberias, where he studied the profession of automotive mechanics and finished with honors. David was active in the Gadna and the sports circles at the school, and was drafted into the IDF in early October 1965 and was assigned to the Ordnance Corps. He was admired by his comrades in the unit and accepted by his commanders. After three years of service he volunteered for the career army. Thanks to his excellence and perseverance at work, he was sent abroad. His commanders admired him as “a devoted and loyal chauffeur, who held senior positions within the unit, excelled in his comfortable character and in his societal and humane attitude towards his subordinates.” David was considered a high-level car mechanic. On 11th of Tammuz, 5773 (11.7.1973), David fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
