Ben-Hamu, Shimon
Son of Eliyahu and Aisha. He was born in the city of Melilla, Spain, in 1925. He completed his studies in elementary school there, served two years in the Spanish army and immigrated to Israel in 1950. He was drafted into the IDF in April 1950. He was a courageous and brave soldier, (25.1.1951) in the Battle of the Jordan River near the Sea of Galilee, where he fell first with his squad to attack the enemy. His personality served as a source of encouragement for his friends and subordinates. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
