Ben-Haim, Mordechai (Moti)
Mordechai, son of Shalom and Hannah Son of-Haim, was born on 19 February 1957 in Ein-Sarid, in the Tel-Mond bloc. Moti was drafted into the IDF in February 1975 and volunteered for the Infantry as a paratrooper, successfully completing his basic training and serving as an example to his comrades in the platoon, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant. On May 23, 1977, Moti was killed in a helicopter crash in the Jordan Valley, killing 54 soldiers, and he was brought to eternal rest in the military section of Tel Mond cemetery, leaving behind his parents and four brothers and sisters. They donated a Torah scroll to the synagogue in Tel Mond to commemorate his memory.
