Ben-Ezra, Yosef


Yosef, son of Mazal and Ezra Son of-Ezra, was born in 1941 in Baghdad, Iraq, and immigrated to Israel with his mother in 1950. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in early August 1959 and assigned to the Engineering Corps. In the Six-Day War he participated as a combat soldier and commander in one of the most difficult fighting sectors in the Sinai, and succeeded in bringing all his soldiers back safely from all the battles. On the 29th of Cheshvan 5734 (October 29, 1973), he was wounded and killed while carrying out his combat duty, and his burial place is unknown. Yosef left behind a wife, a daughter, a son and a mother.
