Ben Ezra, Eliyahu

The son of Esther and Ezer. Eliahu was born in Israel on the 5th of Shvat 5719 (January 13, 1959). He began his elementary studies at Moshav Meron, the neighbor of his settlement, Shefer, where his family settled since immigrating to Israel from Morocco. Eliahu joined the IDF and served in the Armored Corps as part of his regular service, where he received great praise from his commanders and even received a certificate recognition. During his military service he participated in Operation Litani. After his discharge from the regular service, Eliahu continued to serve in a military/police framework, and in June 1980 he enlisted in the Border Police. He was placed as a guard in the Yishuv and in 1982 he was transferred to Company C as a regular combat soldier. Colonel Eliahu fell during his duty in Lebanon, in the first Tsur disaster. On the morning of the 25th of Kislev 5743 (11.11.1982), during the Peace for Galilee War, an explosion took place in a building in the city of Tzur, home to the Israeli military government and many IDF forces. Eliahu was one of the dead. He was twenty-three years old when he died, and he was buried in the Safed cemetery.
