Ben-Eliezer, Gideon
Gideon, son of Tzili and Amnon Son of-Eliezer, was born on 12.4.1951 in Kibbutz Gvulot and studied at Hadasim Youth Village, where Gideon was a class leader, although he was a shy boy. Gideon was drafted into the IDF in mid-October 1969 and was assigned to the air force, where he took a pilot course and served as a pilot in a flight school. After completing his mandatory service, he volunteered for a career in the army and spent two years there. During the Yom Kippur War, Gideon took part in several sorties. On the 12th of Tishrei 5734 (October 8, 1973), Gideon embarked on an operational mission in which he was killed, when his plane was hit, exploded and fell to the ground. Gideon was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. Survived by father, mother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to captain.
