Ben-David, Yuval


Son of Yehudit and Shmuel (painter, painting teacher at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design at the Beit Hakerem Teachers College in Jerusalem) was born on 15.1.1921 in Jerusalem. At the age of seven, he married his father and was unable to educate him in the family. He did not find his place in the school and wandered from one institution to another (an elementary school in Jerusalem, a school in Tel Aviv and son of Shemen) In Kibbutz Ein Harod (in Geva there was no suitable classroom for him). At first he was a difficult child, but after the teachers’ warning because of his wild behavior he changed completely, excelled in his studies and behavior, and finished school as a good student. He went to work in Geva, joined the local youth group, was accepted as a full-fledged member of the kibbutz, devoted himself especially to the dairy industry and diligently pursued his training until he was the main person in this industry. His character was crystallized, as one of the veteran members of the group noted, and included “stubbornness, perseverance, walking in an independent, original line, and rooting.” He was a member of the Haganah from his youth and a member of the Haganah, and underwent sabotage and sabotage courses in 1943. In 1943, he volunteered for a Hebrew unit in the British Army and later for the Jewish Brigade, when he was declared a founding member of the Haganah. He served in the Golani Brigade and participated in the bombing of bridges on the Afula-Jenin road, the conquest of Beit She’an, the battles in the Jenin area, the attack on the Jenin police, the conquest of Nazareth and the Galilee, The Golani Brigade was disbanded in the Negev during the beginning of the Horev operation to expel the Egyptian army from the state,In this battle he fell on the 21st of Kislev 5709 (December 23, 1948), and was buried in the borders. On the 16th of Av 5709 (August 11, 1949) he was put to rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Geva.
