Ben-David, Ami (Fuad)

Son of Kadouri and Georgia. Born in February 1934 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, after graduating from elementary school there, in 1950, he immigrated to Israel, which he was often told about from his childhood, when he reached the goal of full integration into the life of the state. He found his way to the kibbutz of Sde Nahum, where he found his satisfaction, because he felt he was part of creating something out of nothing.In June 1953 he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the paratroopers. Despite the difficulties in this corps, he never complained about them and only knew happiness, because in part he fell to be among the red beret. Participated in reprisals (such as Qalqiliya). At the end of 1956, he was released from the army and returned to a kibbutz where he lived in modesty and was loved by all, and in the Sinai Campaign, all his friends stood up to fight for his people against those who rose up to destroy him. After moving from place to place, he found work (in 1961) at the Argaman factory, excelled in work, and devoted himself to the workers ‘affairs in order to be honest about protecting his friends without harming the proper work of the factory, and was a member of the workers’ committee that admired him. Who married a wife in 1962, the couple lived his difficult life quietly and both aspired to build their home for them He returned to his home in February 1968. In February 1968 he was called again to the flag and despite his illness he left – but he did not return, because near Jericho he died during an exchange of fire with an enemy force on the 10th of Shevat, (9.2.1968). He left a wife and two small children. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
