Ben Choteh, Ofer Michael

Son of Zahara and Asher. Born on 30.4.1972 in Lod, the second son of a well-to-do family, observant of tradition. Warm, loving and meticulous in educating her children. Ofer began his studies at the Bialik Elementary School, which continues at the Torah and Hora Yeshiva and completed the Or Moshe boarding school. Always with a smile on his face, Simcha, laughing and never sad. A charming young man, handsome. Ofer was drafted into the army in April 1990. He completed basic training in high grades and continued with the enrichment course, at the end of which he was assigned to serve as a security guard in the General Staff. A few months earlier, his father had suffered a stroke and lost his ability to work. The economic situation in the home worsened and the burden of caring for the father fell on the mother. In the distance, Ofer felt his difficulties, made sure that his younger brothers would remain within the family and at his request, he was sent to work with the weapons. After a while and for personal reasons he was assigned to serve in the kitchen. The base headquarters where he served describe Ofer as my friend and very responsible. On November 14, 1992, four months before his release, Ofer fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Lod. Survived by his parents, three sisters – Iris, Korin and Liat and two brothers – Gili and Neor. His parents donated a Torah scroll to the Mishkenot Yisrael synagogue in Lod and a light to the mitzvot. His family wrote: “A – Elem Hemed Chachin / F – Perach Shushan Bride as smoke / R – God ‘s Spirit in the Garden of Eden. His smile and good heart we will never forget.
