Ben-Atar (Hasidov), Yaakov
Son of Moshe and Katya. Born in London, England, on September 15, 1907, he came to Israel for a visit with his mother and sister in 1914, when the father could not immigrate after the outbreak of World War I. The mother and her children returned to Europe, In 1933. He completed his studies at the Herzliya Hebrew High School in Tel Aviv, continued his studies in Paris and then at the College of Technology in Manchester, England, where he joined the British army and served as an officer in the Middle East from 1942 until the end of the war. He joined the IDF and served there until his last day; In his service, he attained the rank of major. On the 16th of Av 5718 (2.8.1958) he died of his illness and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and a daughter.
