Ben-Asher (Vladimirsky), Ze’ev


Son of Miriam and Asher, was born on the 27th of Tammuz 5623 (2.7.1923) in the city of Dombrovica, Polesia region, Poland. He studied at the “Tarbut” school and was a member of the “Hashomer Hadati” movement. In 1936, at the age of thirteen, he immigrated to Israel with his parents who settled in Haifa. When he was young, he began working in the water department at the Hadar-Carmel Committee in Haifa. On a working day and at night he prepared for a matriculation certificate at the “Even Corner” high school. Zeev graduated with honors. For years he participated in Rabbi Oskorn’s course “Jewish Studies” and cultural activities among the youth group of “HaPoel Hamizrachi”; He was a member of the board of directors of the “Bnei Akiva” movement. In his place of work he appointed him to be in charge of the measurements department. He was a member of the Haganah from Shaharutu, a religious religious unit, and played every role devotedly, maintaining positions in Wadi Rumshmiya and escorting cars to the lower city of Haifa, and from 1942 until 1945 he was drafted as a guard in the Coast Guard. . A few months ago, when he served in the training department of the Carmeli Brigade in Haifa, he trained recruits for the IDF, was quiet and modest, and was very cheerful. With the commanders of the Alonim sects participating in the battle for Jenin and escorting convoys to Rosh Pina Ze’ev was sent to a sniper’s instructors course, but during Operation Brosh for the destruction of the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden area he was suddenly called to leave this sector and fell in battle on the Hirbat- Tammuz 5708 (16.7.1948). He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
