Ben Ari (Price), Ehud (Udi),

Son of Yitzchak and Beatrice. Members of Kibbutz Yakum. He was born in the kibbutz, on the 3rd of Tishrei, September 17, 1947. He studied at an elementary school in the kibbutz, and after completing his studies, he continued his studies in a high school in the “Sharon Beach” area. He excelled, in particular, as an athlete. Two years before his enlistment, he began to guide the Hashomer Hatzair movement, within the kibbutz. He saw the training as a challenge and a mission, and was very devoted to his apprentices. He participated in seminars for instructors, and the knowledge he acquired in these studies was combined with training work. It was worth noting that by nature he loved animals, and every vacation from the army, short or long, was devoted to the profession of raising cattle. In the course of a reconnaissance flight in the Suez Canal area, the Piper plane was hit by an SA2 missile. Udi ordered the artillery officer who was with him on the plane to leave, and was caught in the leg. Udi helped him get out of the plane, and drop safely. When Udi abandoned the plane, it was too late, his parachute did not open up. Udi fell on the 19th of Adar, March 9, 1969. After he fell, he was promoted to lieutenant. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in his kibbutz. Kibbutz Yakum devoted a page to their booklet, on the anniversary of his death.
