Ben Ami, Liat

Daughter of Shoshana and Mordechai. She was born in Haifa on November 15, 1982 to a young couple. A sister to Eitan and Adva. From an early age she was an independent and very ambitious girl. Liat was educated in the “Dror” elementary school in the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood, and continued her studies at the “Ironi Alef” high school, in a sports class. Throughout her years she was an outstanding athlete who participated in light athletics and field races and won medals. Liat was a graceful, energetic, ambitious, energetic girl. She went on to the humanist realm – the world of art, literature and theater – and studied these subjects extensively. Was involved and socially active, contributed to her surroundings as much as she could, and during her studies she received certificates of appreciation for the benefit and honor she brought to school. Liat initiated school projects, including plays, ceremonies and end-of-year events, sometimes writing the texts herself and performing on stage. She was a trainee in Gadna, took part in a course for young men and received the title “Departmental Excellence.” She completed her high school studies with honors, and on July 18, 2001 she joined the Border Police and was accepted to a combat course After six months of basic training, she picked up the company’s certificate of excellence and went to a squad commanders’ course. At the end of the course she received a “Company Excellence” certificate – the only child of many boys. From there, she continued to serve as a Border Police commander in the seam line company in the north of the country, near Jenin, where she was wounded and transferred to the memorial site of the Border Police Memorial. On October 21, 2002, Liat fell in a terrorist attack at the Karkur junction, near the base, when a bus carrying the Egged bus line 841 made its way from Tiberias to Tel Aviv.
