Ben-Ami (Awami), Yosef

Yosef, son of Yehuda and Naomi (Mazal) Son of-Ami, was born on March 27, 1954 in Tel Aviv. When he was four, his parents divorced, and he stayed with his mother, until she died. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in mid-October 1972 and assigned to an anti-aircraft unit in the Israel Air Force. In the unit he served as a field officer, storekeeper and clerk, and he fulfilled his duty with dedication and responsibility. On the 19th of Tevet 5737 (1.1.1975), Yosef fell while serving. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Holon. He was survived by a father, a stepmother, two brothers and a step sister. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander said that “Yosef was disciplined and quiet, friendly and loved by everyone, and so we will remember him.”
