Belzer, Nissim


Son of Victoria and Eliahu, was born on the 14th of Adar, 10.3.1925 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 1941 he immigrated to Israel with his parents, in Aliya Bet, and after they were imprisoned for a year in the camp in Atlit, they settled in Tel Aviv. The poor condition of the family forced the 16-year-old to go to work. Nissim was a devoted son to his old parents and they were at the top of his worries. In Israel, he renewed his activity in Maccabi. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he joined the Haganah, served in the Givati ​​Brigade and participated in the battles for Abu Kabir and Salama in their early stages. Nissim fought in and around Jerusalem, and accompanied convoys to the Negev. Nissim fell in the defense of Negba on the 5th of Tammuz 5708 (12.7.1948), when an enemy shell hit his position and he was brought to rest in the cemetery in Negba.
