Belozersky, David

Son of Moshe and Dina. He was born on the 25th of Shevat 5717 (25.1.1957) in the United States. When he was six months old, the family immigrated to Israel and settled in Haifa. He studied at the Daughter of Galim Elementary School and continued his studies at the Sprinzak High School. At first he studied electronics and electronics, but after two years he switched to technical clerks. David was a very sensitive and withdrawn boy, who often became isolated. For hours on end he devoted himself to reading and even more to listening to music, which filled his soul and made him enthusiastic. He was a devoted and loyal son to his parents and tried to help them. He was conscientious, responsible and serious. David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1976 and was assigned to the Signal Corps, where he completed a rifle training course and was trained as a radio operator. His commanders greatly appreciated him and recommended his promotion, and in April 1977 he was awarded the rank of corporal. David tried not to worry his parents, often visiting the house and making sure to telephone or write to them. On August 10, 1977, he was wounded during his service and transferred to the hospital in Safed. For a week the hospital doctors fought for his life, but in vain. On the 17th of Elul, 5737 (17.8.1977), he died and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, where he left behind his parents and sister in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family: “David served in the unit as a soldier in the liaison department. He seemed to me like a quiet soldier, closed in on himself, obeying the orders of his commanders without question, and performing them satisfactorily. David was an example of a good soldier, disciplined and diligent at work. “
