Ben Mira and Hanan. Born on April 15, 1971 in Tel Aviv, he studied at the Zalman Aran Elementary School in Tel Aviv. Afterward he completed his studies at the New High School in the physical track. Ofer excelled in perception, memory, and abstract and logical thinking. And having social values was one of the most prominent and accepted students in his class. He was gifted. At an early age he painted, sculpted in clay and even wrote stories of his imagination. For many years he played the piano with great skill. This was discovered in the many concerts that appeared in them, the last of which was held at the Tel Aviv Museum and was broadcast live on the Voice of Music radio. His love for music was also evident in his addiction to pop music in all its varieties. Ofer devoted many hours to the soccer and basketball games with his friends, with whom he had a strong relationship throughout childhood, youth and the army. Ofer was fair-haired, blue-eyed and tall. Happiness, creativity, sensitivity, action and humility characterized his special personality. Ofer was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1989. After completing his basic training, he was assigned to the Nimar unit as commander of the TAMAT team. He was later assigned to the IAF recruits ‘base as a recruits’ instructor and an artillery course. Over time, he was appointed sergeant of the recruits and sergeant-sergeant. According to his commander, Ofer was a very serious and serious soldier in his work. He did his job well and became one of the best instructors at the base of the corps recruits. In summaries of interviews with him in his personal file, Ofer told his commander that he enjoyed instructing recruits, and his commander replied that he was very pleased with his work and thanked him for the investment. On February 19, 1992, Ofer fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Staff Sergeant Ofer spent a long time in my unit, and for fifteen months progressed from position to position with great success, until the senior position of a sergeant-sergeant he received every day before the accident.” “Ofer was the image of the soldier to whom we educate, and like him, we want under our command,” he said in his letter to the family: “Ofer stood out for his dedication, caring and seriousness for the job as an educator and commander of recruits.” Every year, the New High School in Tel Aviv commemorates Ofer and his athletic skills in holding a basketball tournament – a game he loved so much – in his name.
