Bekerman, Yosef

Son of Rivka and Shimon, was born on the 21 th of Tevet 5727 (21.1.1927) in Haifa. He first studied at son of Shemen and later at the elementary school in Givat Hashlosha. From there he moved to the potash company in the northern Dead Sea to study the mechanics profession. He aspired to settle in the settlement and as a member of Hanoar Haoved, he went to Kibbutz Degania and from there moved to Beit Ha’Arava and recently to Kibbutz Na’an. Yosef joined the Hagana while he was a student in the northern Dead Sea and was drafted into the Palmach with the recruits, who was among the first to defend the Negev and took part in reconnaissance activities On December 9, 1947, And in the course of the ensuing battle, six of the class’s members fell, and only three managed to escape.Joseph fell in this battle and was buried in Nachalat Yitzhak on September 23, 1954, Was transferred from the civilian plot in Nahalat Yitzhak to the local military cemetery.
