Beckman, Joshua


Son of-Esther and Pinchas was born on January 3, 1903, in the city of Kaminitz-Podolsk, Russia, immigrated to Israel in 1921 with the Third Aliyah and was a member of the Haganah, He was a member of the first group of wagon drivers who organized in Jerusalem, and after the group organized as a transport group in trucks, he became one of its best drivers, and in those days his economic situation improved considerably and his livelihood was plentiful. And left Jerusalem and moved with his family to Moshav Atarot, where he set up a Yaffa farm, without assistance and budget. The battle for Atarot and the road to Jerusalem, many of the members of the moshav failed under the heavy burden, but Joshua was discovered in those days as a courageous defender, who took the most dangerous actions and twice traveled to Tel Aviv in matters of the moshav. On the day of his service in the “Tnuva” yard in Jerusalem, he was hit by an enemy shell and died, and was buried in Sheikh Bader A. On the 28th of Elul 5705, (10.9.1950) was transferred to eternal rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
