Battalion, Moshe
Son of Avraham and Tzipora. Born in Romania on 28.4.1939, he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. He completed his elementary and secondary studies in Be’er Sheva, and later enrolled as a student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where he studied economics and economics. He was drafted into the IDF in November 1957. In 1967, he was awarded the BA and was preparing for his master’s degree in business administration. The Master’s degree in Social Sciences was delivered to Moshe’s parents by the Rector of the University and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the graduation ceremony. He would go to reserve duty and at the outbreak of the Six-Day War he would be called again to the flag and then lieutenant. He was a brave and outstanding officer of scouts, but on the second day of the battles, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), he fell in a battle that took place at the outskirts of Gaza on a landmine. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. In the Beersheba Municipality (“Here is Be’er Sheva”), in the “Honor for the Fallen – Condolences for Families” section, his memory was raised. The story of his life and death was presented in the book “Nizkor” published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Students’ Union, edited by Yehuda Ha-Ezrahi.
