Bataan, Ahliav (Yoav)

Ahaliav (Yoav), son of Simcha and Yechiel Bataan, was born in 1929 in Tiberias. He graduated from elementary school in his hometown and then moved to Haifa, where he studied at the Technion. He later joined the Hagana organization and successfully completed several courses, including a course for squad commanders. At the same time he was a counselor in the Hanoar Haoved movement and was treated with admiration by his friends and students. Upon his return from the Hanoar Haoved branch, near Luntz Street, he was ordered to stop by a guard of British soldiers. Yoav accelerated his steps and was shot in the back by the guards. He was rushed to Rothschild Hospital where he died of his wounds on 18 Av, August 14, 1947. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Tiberias. He left behind his parents and brother. His name was immortalized in a memorial booklet issued by the General Federation of Working Youth in Haifa.
