Bashari, Zechariah


Son of Shulamit and Shalom. He was born on January 1, 1941 in Yemen and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. He studied at the religious school in Beit Dagan. He completed his studies at the Kfar Batya High School. Zacharia was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement and later served as a counselor at the movement’s branch in Beit Dagan. He was a naturalist and was particularly interested in animals. He has read many books on this subject and watched nature films about animals. Zacharia was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1960 and joined the Golani Brigade, where he completed his regular service at the Teachers College in Givat Washington, where he served for a year as a teacher, and in 1966 served as a police officer in the center of the country. In 1970. He volunteered for the career army and joined the Israel Air Force in the position of foreman in aviation statistics, and in the estimation of his commanders Zachariah was a highly skilled and disciplined man who took part in the Yom Kippur War, Operation Litani and Operation Peace for the Galilee. They had four children – Ronit, Erez, Nir and Oren On August 28, 1985, Zachariah fell to the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion and was buried at the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion. He left behind a wife, a daughter, three sons, a mother, two brothers and three sisters – Shlomo, Margalit, Yehuda, Yonah and Bracha
