Bartov, Ilan

Son of Giora and Shoshana. He was born on April 24, 1949 in Haifa. He studied at the Weizmann elementary school in Nahariya and at the “Sammat” school in Haifa, and was a great athlete, a member of the “Hapoel” Nahariya association, and was a basketball player both socially and One of his hobbies was collecting stamps, he was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1967 and three years later joined the career army. Ilan played basketball for the IDF Northern Command, and shortly before his death, he was assigned to design and build a basketball court in his unit. On October 15, 1971, Sergeant Ilan was killed while carrying out his duties. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya. His association, “Hapoel” Nahariya, organizes basketball games every year in his memory.
