Barnas, Joseph


Son of Miriam and Eliyahu. Born on August 13, 1971 in Rishon Letzion. At a young age he was orphaned by his parents. He studied at an elementary school in Rishon Letzion and continued his educational career at the Neve Hadarim boarding school in Havatzelet Hasharon. A nice guy, made connections easily, open and happy despite his difficulties. At the end of March 1990, Yosef was drafted into the army, and he began his service as part of the Raful Youth Project at the Hashomer Farm, where he underwent basic training. In the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Survived by two sisters – Simcha and Ilana, and brother Chaim. He was nineteen when he died. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Yossi enlisted with a lot of will, overcoming obstacles that he had in his previous attempts to enlist, and tried hard to carry out what he was required to do in basic training.
