Barazani, Meir


Meir ben Tikva and Avner was born on the 25th of Elul, September27, 1978 in Tel Aviv. Meir enlisted in the IDF at the end of June 1996. He served in a squadron of helicopter gunships at the Palmachim base, and as a helicopter electrician. He was a highly motivated soldier with a high work ethic, quiet, modest, and disciplined. Meir fell in love with the squadron and its commanders and thought of a long military career, but he did not achieve his plans. Meir fell during his service on the 19th of Sivan, June 13, 1998 in a car accident at the Masovim junction. He was twenty years old. Meir was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. Survived by parents and three brothers – Lior, Moshe and Roy. After his death he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence, Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak wrote: “Meir was described by his commanders as a disciplined and highly capable soldier who stood out for his talent and peace of mind. “
