Bar Ami, Meir
Son of Rachel and Alfred. Born in Be’er Sheva. On the 10th of Cheshvan 5706 (November 10, 1969). He studied at Netivot Yoram Elementary School and continued his studies in mechanics and frameworks at Amal High School. During his free time Meir played soccer and participated in the youth league of the neighborhood in Hapoel. Meir was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in late January 1988, and at the end of his basic training he was appointed to serve as a mechanical engineer in the IAF, and on the 4th of Adar 5748 (4.3.1988) he fell during his service in a traffic accident and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. His parents, Moshe and Shalom, and sister Meital, wrote in a letter of condolence: “Meir, despite his short service in the unit, immediately became fond of all those around him. We discovered a man and a diligent and energetic soldier who fell into every mission and did not expect him to be told what to do. His friends noticed his great joy when he joined the unit and the great desire he had to succeed and to contribute to his duty as a soldier to the IDF and the Air Force. His family commemorated the donation of a Torah library to the synagogue in the Ramot neighborhood of Be’er Sheva.
