Balsam, Moshe (“Moishele”, “Moshiko”)

Moshe, son of Pinchas and Adela Balsam, was born on July 15, 1946 in Novosol, Poland. Moshe was almost three years old when the family immigrated to Israel (in 1949) and settled in Kiryat Yam. He waited impatiently for an order calling on him to go to battle in those days of tension before the Six-Day War. The morning he received the order, there was no limit to his joy. During the war, he was commander of a mortar post and at a battle held in Sanhedria, Jerusalem, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), the second day of the battles, Moshe was hit directly by enemy fire. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
