Ballet, Moshe


Moshe, son of Henia and Israel, was born on September 11, 1934, in Ravitz, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. Moshe was drafted into the IDF in August 1954 and assigned to the Artillery Corps, and after completing his training course, he was placed as a liaison instructor at the training base for artillery. Moshe participated in the Six-Day War and during the battles he volunteered for various missions. When the Yom Kippur War broke out he immediately joined his unit and took part in the battles of containment and incursion against the Egyptians on the Sinai front. On the 26th of Tishrei 5734 (22.10.1973), when his unit was about to cross the bridge on the Suez Canal and move to its western side, a surprise bombardment was launched and Moshe was hit and killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by a wife, daughter and son, parents and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
