Bakshi, Aba-Eliyahu


Son of Esther and Aharon, was born in the city of Hiraat, Afghanistan, where he studied in the “Heder” and immigrated to Israel in 1936. Here he continued in the tradition of art he grew up in, and worked in a workshop in the Mea Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem. In the month of Nissan 5708 he joined the defenders of the city in full service. He was a guard at “Titat Halav” and from there was transferred to Mandelbaum’s homes. On the 12th of Tammuz 5708 (12.7.1948), during a severe attack by the enemy, he was injured, fell on the spot and was buried in Sheikh Bader A. On the 10th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at home Military Cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem
