Bakmister, Shlomo

Son of Tzippora and Yitzhak, was born in Tel Aviv on August 22, 1947. He studied at the elementary school in the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood and continued his studies at the “Shevach” vocational school in Tel Aviv. To the IDF and served in the infantry. But his longing for the country and his mother’s illness made him return. He returned to Israel, began working for an insurance company and devoted himself to caring for his mother. Shortly after his death, his mother married Mickey and established his home in Herzliya, where his daughter Hila was born. When the Peace for Galilee War began, Shlomo was drafted into the Armash unit, on the 11th of Kislev, 5762 (11.6.1982), with his unit in battle, in the eastern sector of the Bekaa Valley. The armored personnel carrier he was traveling in was hit by a Syrian missile and Shlomo was killed, and he was laid to rest on the 17th of Sivan 5742 (17.6.1982) at the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
