Badri, Yehezkel


Son of Eliyahu and Rachel. He was born on the 8th of Tevet 5708 (8.1.1958) in Haifa. After graduating from the ninth grade, he moved to the Sprinzak High School and studied in the Department of Electrical and Vehicle Engineering. He was very good-hearted and willing to help anyone, and he was very kind and well-mannered, with strong opinions and a strong sense of leadership. He was very devoted to them and always tried to help them as best he could, and Yehezkel was drafted into the IDF at the end of October 1975 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training, he completed his course in the tank professions and successfully completed it. At the end of the course, an armored battalion was stationed in the Golan Heights and served as a liaison officer in one of the tank crews. His comrades in the unit liked him very much, and soon a strong bond developed between them, which continued beyond the hours of his position in the unit. His commanders greatly admired him and considered him to be a responsible staff member who fulfilled his duties faithfully and with dedication. They recommended that he send him to take a course in tank commanders’ course, but he did not achieve it. On July 8, 1976, Yechezkel was wounded while serving in the Ein-Zivan area and was transferred to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. The doctors made a supreme effort to save him, but without success. On the 13th of Tammuz 5736 (11.7.19976) he died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Yehezkel served in an excellent company, in which soldiers were chosen to be commanders, and his commanders recommended that he be sent to a tank commanders course, with the intention of returning to the battalion and serving as a commander. We will be very sorry for the loss, and Yechezkel will miss us very much. “
