Bado, Avraham

Their eldest son, Yaffa and Jacob, was born on May 15, 1946 in Baghdad, Iraq. In 1951, the Bedu family immigrated to Israel and settled in Beit She’an. Avraham studied at the Tachkemoni elementary school for eight years. Later, because of his family’s financial situation, he was forced to go out to work and help support the family. He worked in kibbutzim in the vicinity in every casual job, and was not deterred by hard physical work. Avraham spent his free time watching suspense films or listening to music. He also loved traveling around the country, loved the entertainment world and enjoyed telling jokes to those around him. At the end of 1963 Avraham enlisted in the regular army. In the Six-Day War and in the Yom Kippur War he already fought as a soldier in reserve duty. Abraham loved army life. In military life he found the closeness to the people in a way that suited his character. He liked to be close to people, but he did not want to need their help. Since his discharge from the army, Avraham worked in guarding the entire country. In such a work, he found satisfaction in his wanderings and a response to his livelihood. When he was about 36 he met Mazal, a friend from Jerusalem, and was preparing to marry her. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5743 (11.11.1982), in the disaster of the collapse of the government building in Tire, Avraham was killed and brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Bet She’an cemetery. He left behind his parents, brothers and sisters.
