Badihi, Yehoshua (Yihye)

Yehoshua, son of Miriam and Shalom Badihi, was born in 1921 in Tel Aviv. When he was ten years old, he was orphaned from his father. He was a veteran member of the Hagana and always volunteered for any daring action. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and later served as a sergeant in the Jewish Fighting Brigade. He reorganized members of the Haganah and established the local infantry unit, where he was a company commander. A short time before his fall, he was appointed Chief Training Officer in the Alexandroni Brigade. On the 27th of Iyar (5.6.1948), Yehoshua participated in the conquest of the village of Kakun and commanded the deployment in the occupied village. He fell during a counter-attack on the village and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. After his fall, he was given the rank of Captain.
