The only son of Dr. Albina, nee Lauterbach and Dr. Arthur, was born on August 23, 1928 in Moravska-Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, where he studied at a Jewish school, where his parents immigrated to Palestine in early 1940 and settled In Tel Aviv, he changed his name from Paul to Gideon, where he studied at a boarding school for immigrant youth in Moshav Megged near Pardes Hanna, quickly adapted the Hebrew language (in addition to Czech, German, English and French), excelled as a diligent and talented student He was fond of books and wrote in a Yaffa style: After graduating from the elementary school in Megad, he studied at the Safra School of Commerce in Tel Aviv and graduated cum laude in 1945 and began working as a clerk in a trade house.
