Babenji, Menahem (Parvez)


Menachem (Parvez), son of Batya and David, was born in August 1947 in Teheran, Iran, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1961. He studied at the “Otzar HaTorah” elementary school in Teheran and later went on to study at the Youth Aliyah Institute in Neve Hadassah. Menachem was a diligent student, diligent and loved by his friends and teachers. He excelled in mathematics and won many praise and awards for his diligence and perseverance. He was also a sports fan and had a large stamp collection. He was naturally sociable, broad-hearted and willing to help others. Because of his physical strength and leadership, his friends felt safe, and he defended and encouraged the weak. He was hospitable and loved to bother them. Menachem was drafted into the IDF in early February 1966. Menachem was assigned to the Armored Corps, and after basic training he completed a tank training course and a tank gun course. And during his vacation he brought home members of his unit, who lived far from the base, and Menachem participated in the war in 1967 and was awarded to his friends for his hard work and obedience. For him, the “Six Day War” symbol on the release certificate given to him upon his release Regular service, wrote to his commander: “Menachem is a dedicated and disciplined soldier. In his Yom Kippur War, Menahem participated in the battle against the Syrians in the Golan Heights, In a battle that took place on the 14th of Tishrei 5734 (9.10.1973), on the Hosheniya road leading to Nahal Gesur, his tank was hit directly, and Menahem was killed on the spot and brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. A father, a mother, six brothers and two sisters, and was promoted to the rank of corporal in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family: “Menachem fulfilled his duties Efficiency, loyalty and devotion “.
