Babbai, Ezra

During the First World War, after the conquest of southern Israel by the Allenby armies, Babbai volunteered with many members of the Yishuv in Palestine to the 40th Battalion of the King’s Rifles in order to assist in the continued conquest of the land by the Turks. After the end of the war, on 21 January 1920, he died and was laid to rest on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. He left a wife.
