Baal-Korei, Daniel


Son of-Tirza and Dov, was born on May 1, 1929, in Bnei Brak and studied there in the elementary school of the “Mizrachi”. From his childhood, he continued his mechanical work and completed the elementary school. He received his technical education at the Max Payne Professional School in Tel Aviv. He was active in the Gadna for several years, but when he wanted to take up arms, he quickly moved to the ranks of the PID and discovered his knowledge of weapons. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he joined the enlisted Hagash and worked to purify the environs of Kfar Azar. Afterward, Danny was boasting: “I was the first ‘scrub’ in the brigade to receive a gift from his apprentices.” In fact, his apprentices, who under his guidance worked hard in their training, On April 14, 1948, during the break-in to the village of Tantura, which was one of the last villages to be conquered, Daniel was wounded by a sniper’s bullet and fell. In the days of the Alexandroni Brigade, the companies of the Alexandroni Brigade left for the attack and before the daylight the village surrendered, but Danny did not see the joy of victory. -buried in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
