Azzar, Shimon


Son of-Phoebe and Shalom, was born on May 23, 1960. His parents immigrated from Morocco and settled in Be’er Sheva, where Shimon was born. He studied in the elementary schools “Avot” and “Ohel Sara” and after completing the junior high school continued to study in vocational schools. He was five years old in a family of seven. When he was 13, his father died. Shimon went to work to help support his family. He worked in odd jobs, as a construction worker and as a locksmith. In March 1978, he was drafted into the IDF, underwent basic training and was first placed in administrative positions, and was later sent to a driving course, completing the course and being transferred to a tank transport unit. After his service in the IDF, he married and established his home in Be’er Sheva, where he served as a tank driver and served successfully as a tank driver in March of 1985. In March 1985, (May 7, 1985) A truck driver towing in the Jordan Valley, near the Bekaot Junction, the truck was damaged and Shimon was wounded when he died at the age of 25. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Be’er Sheva cemetery, , A mother, three sisters and two brothers, and his unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Shimon was a dedicated, disciplined soldier, carrying out all his tasks With great devotion. Volunteered to carry out missions and performed with honors everything that was imposed on him “
