Azurd, Yehuda


Son of Ali and Hananiah. Yehuda was born in Israel on December 25, 1960. He grew up in Moshav Shukda in the south, the second son of a family of nine, and Yehuda was a beloved, disciplined, and affectionate child. Maimon completed his high school studies in 1974. After graduating, he assisted his father in agricultural work and mechanical repair of tools in the economy, where he served in combat engineering and completed a course in combat operations. On December 9, 1983, Yehuda volunteered to serve in the Border Police. He was stationed in the Southern Commandos and even completed a course for reconnaissance teams. In his short service, he led to many operational successes and was highly motivated, as his commander attests. Two weeks before his death, Yehuda was presented as a candidate for the officers’ course. On the 24th of Adar 2, 1984, Yehuda replaced a patrol policeman and discovered a suspicious vehicle. During the chase, a fatal road accident occurred near the Erez-Yad Mordechai intersection where he was killed. Staff Sergeant Yehuda was twenty-four years old. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Netivot
